NoGAP Ethnoarchaeology

Within the NoGAP project we are also working on the development of an interdisciplinary approach identifying "signatures of activities" that will help detecting prehistoric processes in relation to the settlement space (e.g. crop processing, penning, storage areas, etc). The approach focuses on the conjunct use of the geoarchaeological and bioarchaeological approaches in an ethnographic context. The holistic and combined application of these techniques wants to develop a perspective that not only will bring forward new information on anthropological and historical questions but also improve the analytical capabilities of the single techniques utilized.

This part of the project is supported by a Batista i Roca grant from the AGAUR (Generalitat de Catalunya) based on a collaboration between the IMF-CSIC and the McBurney Geoarchaeology Laboratory (University of Cambridge).
